Dubai, 6 January, 2016: Start the clock because the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature tickets are ready to go on sale. Organisers have confirmed ticket sales will go live on January 14, 2016.
The eighth Emirates Airline Festival of Literature will be held from 1-12 March at the Dubai International Writers’ Centre and the InterContinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City. This will be the longest literary Festival conducted in the Middle East. More than 150 authors have been confirmed to be attending in March, including astronaut Chris Hadfield, stage and screen actor Meera Syal and IPAF-winners Saud AlSanousi and Shukri Al Mabkhout. The complete programme will be available online soon.
The extended Festival this year includes screenings of Shakespeare plays and adaptations, Spotlight on the Emirates, an exclusive segment dedicated to the Emirati literary scene, a host of children’s sessions with authors and illustrators as well as several highlight events. Old favourite Desert Stanzas is joined by the Literary Cruise with philosopher AC Grayling, the interactive Time Travel Dinner and the city’s first performance of Steven Berkoff’s Shakespeare’s Villains.
After a stellar launch in October 2015, organisers have added a handful of international and local talents to the line-up. Festival favourite, food and television presenter Suzanne Husseini, UAE Mars Mission member Sarah Amiri, scientific researcher Saeed Al Gergawi, poets Hind Shoufani and Zeina Hashem Beck and renowned British television and theatre personality Robert Lindsay, famous for his role as the bumbling father in British sitcom My Family, will join literary stars Lauren Child, Maha Gargash, Victoria Hislop, Anthony Horowitz, Helen Macdonald and Ian Rankin.
Ticket prices start at AED 50 with several children’s events and activities available free of charge. Tickets will be available on the Festival website www.emirateslitfest.com and at select WHSmith stores in the UAE. Festival Friends, the loyalty programme members for the Festival, will have exclusive access to the tickets from January 7, one week prior to the public.
