Mohamed Abid is a 13 year old Canadian-Algerian playwright. Born in Ottawa, Canada, in 2002, he has enjoyed the language arts since he was a young child. Abid attends the American School of Dubai. He has written three plays, one of which has been entered in the Short+Sweet 2016 Festival, and he is in the process of writing a screenplay.
After moving to Dubai at the age of 6, Abid started theatre, which he discovered a passion for. He has starred in three musicals and was the main role in the short film The Wonderful Tale of Badr and The Great Najooma which will be featured in the Dubai International Film Festival and entered in Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals.
When he is not writing, Abid enjoys freestyle snowboarding and skateboarding. As a certified scuba diver, he enjoys seeing the wonders of marine life.
Playing the clarinet is a passion of his and he will be auditioning for AMIS 2016 this year; one of his most enjoyed pieces of music to play is Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel.
