Ali was previously Director of Organisational Development at the Department of Economic Development (DED). Between 2008 and 2011, he was HR Director at DED.
He was awarded a PhD by the University of Victoria, Australia, where his thesis, ‘Structural Barriers to Emiratisation’, won the University of Victoria’s Excellence In Thesis Quality Award and was given the award for best paper and best presenter by the World Business Institute in 2008. He received the Griffith University Award for Academic Excellence in HRM in 2003.
Ali is also Assistant Professor in strategic human resource management at Hamdan Bin Mohamed Smart University, and assists several prominent organisations, including Wollongong University.
With 25 years’ experience in human resource management, Ali has made a significant contribution to Emiratisation and academic literature, including his well-regarded book, Localising the GCC Workforce, published in 2013.
His most recent book is Influential Leaders in Arab Organisations.
