Badriya Al Shamsi is an Emirati novelist, narrator and poet. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Higher Colleges of Technology. She graduated from the Media Leadership Program of the Dubai School of Government.

Al Shamsi worked at Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) before beginning her journey of social work at the Community Development Authority, where her passion for helping children lead to her overseeing foster families looking after orphans.

Her writing journey began with poetry, and through her participation in literary competitions. Her collection of short stories, Ambitious Mirror, won first place at the sixth short story competition organized by the Ministry of Youth and Community Development in 2014.

Al Shamsi joined MBRF’s DIPW in the novel category and, under the supervision of the Lebanese novelist Najwa Barakat, published the novel Other Selves with Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution. She recently joined the DIPW’s children’s literature category, under the supervision of Dr. Wafa Mezghani, and is working on a new story for children.
